Samsung does not reduce the performance of their phones with outdated batteries

The controversy is served: with an Apple caught in the reduction of power with degraded batteries, Samsung categorically denies that it does the same.

There is no year that we leave behind without there being a strong controversy around Apple devices. It seemed that 2017 would drag the screen of the iPhone X and its famous “notch”, but in the end, it has turned out to be another very different aspect: the batteries of the older mobile phones. Obsolescence programmed? Apple denies it.

All manufacturers will go through the same question: do they reduce the power of their phones when the batteries degrade? Samsung has denied it.

Apple finally confirms that it reduces the performance of the iPhone when the batteries have degraded. This fact is inherent to a battery: time and use reduce its capabilities. What is not of receipt is that the manufacturer reduces benefits without communicating it to the user; so this will think that your mobile has become old and should change, a logical and obvious.

Controversies with Apple apart, the rest of manufacturers has been positioning around this attitude. If you look at Android there is no doubt that we should ask Samsung. This one has already responded.

“We do not reduce CPU performance with software updates”

Samsung, LG say they don’t slow phones with old batteries like Apple

Samsung’s response is categorical: the manufacturer does not reduce the performance of their phones throughout the use they can give their customers. they are the official statements of the company is as follows

” Product quality has always been and will be, a high priority for Samsung Mobile. We ensure the extended life of the batteries in Samsung devices through our multi-layer security measures; which include software algorithms that control the current during battery charging and its duration. We do not reduce CPU performance with software updates over the entire life of the mobile. ”

We must bear in mind that not only the battery degrades, but also the rest of the components do it. The RAM loses capabilities over time, also the processor and other electronic components; the software creates cache memory that ends up weighing the performance, and users install applications and games that also affect overall performance. It is logical that an old mobile phone does not work like a new one; without this being a reason for the manufacturer to reduce performance unilaterally.

Other Android manufacturers have already denied that Apple practices. LG also does not reduce (or reduce) the performance of a smartphone with degraded battery. Same as HTC and Motorola.
