Samsung Electronics is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. The manufacturer from South Korea even sells twice more smartphones worldwide than the number three, Huawei. According to the Investor, the manufacturer has set a modest sales target for 2018. The manufacturer wants to sell approximately 320 million smartphones this year.
Samsung sells 320 million smartphones in 2018
The Investor reports that Samsung has recently informed its suppliers about the sales plans for 2018. The South Korean technology giant wants to sell 320 million smartphones, 40 million GSM phones, 20 million tablets and 5 million portable devices this year. This is a modest sales target for the number of smartphones. The manufacturer from Korea probably already achieved that number in 2017.
Despite the moderate objective of the tech giant, it remains, of course, a lot of smartphones. The expectation of the South Korean brand has to do with the saturation on the global smartphone market. You can not call the sales figure low. Because of the biggest competitors, Apple and Huawei, sell respectively 200 million and 150 million smartphones annually.
Samsung will focus on the profitability of the smartphones this year. This means that the Korean manufacturer is mainly focused on the more expensive premium models. The Samsung Galaxy S9, the Galaxy Note 9 and probably the much-discussed foldable Samsung Galaxy X.
